Icônes Americaines

 

Hier, je me suis rendue à l’exposition Icônes Américaines au Grand Palais.

Il était temps, l’exposition se termine Lundi!

 

L’affiche dans le métro m’avait interpellé mais sans plus.

Finalement, c’est en ayant un retour positif sur cette exposition que j’ai décidé d’y aller. Comme on dit, mieux vaut tard que jamais!

 

Je ne sais pas pourquoi, mais je m’étais mis en tête que cette exposition allait regrouper les Icones Americaines. Je veux dire les icônes féminines de l’époque du Pop Art, telles que Liz Taylor, Marylin Monroe ou encore Jackie Kennedy.

Et bien, non, que nenni, c’est sûrement l’affiche de l’exposition qui m’a induite en erreur. Évidement, en choisissant le portrait de Liz Taylor (réalisé par Andy Warhol) et le titre “Icônes Américaines”, je me suis prise à rêver en grand!

Ce qui est grand, c’est en fait la collection Fisher (le Fondateur de la marque Gap) et la collection du San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (en rénovation pour le moment et ou repose une partie de la collection Fisher).

Et c’est de ça dont il s’agit!

Les icônes Américaines sont en fait les artistes eux-même. Chaque artiste a sa pièce ou presque. On découvre ainsi quelques œuvres d’Ellsworth Kelly, Richard Diebenkorn, Brice Marden, Dan Flavin, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol…

 

Personnellement, j’ai bien aimé cette exposition. Et même si je l’ai trouvé trop courte à mon goût (j’aurais voulu en voir plus!), cela m’a permis de découvrir des artistes comme Richard Diebenkorn et Ellsworth Kelly que je ne connaissais pas jusqu’à maintenant et dont j’aime beaucoup l’univers artistique. La masterpiece de l’exposition étant pour moi la peinture de Richard Diebenkorn, (la première photo, en haut).

Yesterday, I visited the exhibition American Icons at the Grand Palais.
It was time, the exhibition ends on Monday!

 

The poster in the subway catched my eyes but no more.
Finally, it’s by having a positive return on this exhibition that I decided to go there. As they say, better late than never!

 

I do not know why, but I put myself in mind that this exhibition would bring together American Icons.  I mean the female icons of the Pop Art era such as Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe or Jackie Kennedy.
Well, no, it is probably the poster of the exhibition who misled me. Obviously, choosing a portrait of Liz Taylor (paint by Andy Warhol) and the title “American Icons,” I got taken to dream big!
The big thing is in fact, the Fisher collection (the brand’s founder of Gap) and the collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (currently under renovation and where is based a part of the Fisher collection).
And that’s what it’s all about!
The American icons are actually the artists themselves. Each artist has his room, almost. We discover some works by Ellsworth Kelly, Richard Diebenkorn, Brice Marden, Dan Flavin, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol …

 

Personally, I liked this exhibition. And even if I found it too short for my taste (I wanted to see more!), it allowed me to discover artists like Ellsworth Kelly and Richard Diebenkorn I did not know until now and whose I love the artistic world.

The masterpiece of the exhibition is for me the painting of Richard Diebenkorn, on the first photo (above).
